Innovation of medical catheter materials

updates to catheter materials. Medical catheter raw materials are mainly medical polymer materials such as PVC, silicone, rubber, latex and TPE. The main composition materials of medical catheter are different according to the different parts of the human body where the medical catheter is indwelled. Because medical catheters are used in the human body, some medical catheters need to be implanted in the body, so the physical properties, chemical stability, molding processability and safety of medical polymer materials must meet medical standards to ensure that they do not contain soluble harmful substances, and need to have biological adaptability and blood compatibility, in order to reduce the adverse effects after implantation. Due to the low cost of PVC raw materials and the ease of processing, it has become the raw material for most medical catheters. However, the residual vinyl chloride monomer in the material and the DEHP plasticizer added in it will pose a health threat to the human body. With the continuous progress of technology, silicone rubber, TPU and TPE materials are superior to PVC materials by non-toxic, no additive processing, good biological properties, and gradually become a new material to replace PVC, its market share continues to increase, and promote the material innovation of the medical catheter industry.
